Minister of Manpower: AP2LN contributes to improving the quality of overseas internships

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah assessed that the Association of Overseas Internship Organizers (AP2LN) has made a positive contribution to improving the quality of overseas internships.
“AP2LN has successfully improved the quality of overseas apprenticeship programs by preparing qualified participants for destination countries, particularly Japan,” he said in his remarks at the “AP2LN Coordination Meeting 2023, A Decade of AP2LN Building the Nation” in Jakarta, Tuesday. He added that AP2LN also plays an active role in cooperating with the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker), both by providing policy input and organizing various positive activities that will certainly increase the confidence of Japanese businesses. “Never stop contributing to the nation; hand in hand, let us build the country to achieve a Golden Indonesia 2045,” he said.
The Director of Vocational Training and Apprenticeship Management at Kemenaker, Muhammad Ali, added that Indonesia has a big dream to become a developed country like Japan by 2045. “One of the prerequisites being prepared is human resources (HR). These apprenticeship programs are very beneficial for young Indonesians in improving competence, career development, and even their entrepreneurial ventures when they return to Indonesia,” he said.
Muhammad Ali hopes that AP2LN can expand opportunities for cooperation with apprenticeship organizers in Japan so that Indonesian youth talents get more opportunities to improve their competencies.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of AP2LN, Firman Budiyanto, said that around 40,000 young Indonesian talents are absorbed into apprenticeship programs in Japan each year. “Currently, AP2LN consists of 156 Sending Organizations (SO) out of the 387 SOs in Indonesia. This means we represent only about 45 percent, but we send 75 percent of apprenticeship participants to Japan. This shows that all of our members are active,” he explained.
He stated that Japan is currently seeing high demand for construction workers. “In recent years, there has been growing demand in building cleaning, elderly care, while established sectors remain in manufacturing, automotive, and agriculture,” said Firman Budiyanto.
