Jakarta – Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, opened the Coordination Meeting on the Implementation of Overseas Apprenticeships in Jakarta, Wednesday (20/9/2023).
The meeting, themed “Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration to Create Competent Workers through Quality Overseas Apprenticeships,” was also attended by Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor, Acting Director General of Binalavotas who is also Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower, Anwar Sanusi, and Special Staff to the Minister of Manpower, Caswiyono Rusydie Cakrawangsa.
In her remarks, Minister Ida stated that the coordination meeting on the implementation of overseas apprenticeships, particularly to Japan, is a momentum to improve the quality of the apprenticeship program with Japan so that it can be expanded more massively in the future. “I believe that if this program continues to be developed in both quantity and quality, it will bring great benefits to Indonesia and Japan,” said Minister Ida. She emphasized that the government, in principle, supports the continuity of the apprenticeship cooperation between Indonesia and Japan.
Furthermore, she mentioned that her office also supports all efforts to improve the quality of apprenticeship implementation by upholding universal apprenticeship principles. “Apprenticeships must uphold the fundamental principles and basic rights at work for participants,” said the Minister.
Ida Fauziyah expressed her hope that the implementation of this coordination meeting should take into account aspects of equality, respect for diversity, social inclusion, and be free from all forms of discrimination, violence, harassment, and exploitation. “I hope this meeting can serve as a moment of evaluation for us all to continue improving any shortcomings in the implementation of apprenticeships to Japan,” she added.
Meanwhile, Acting Director General of Binalavotas, Anwar Sanusi, in his report said that over the past three decades, Indonesia has established cooperation with Japan to improve workforce competence through apprenticeship programs. These programs have provided great benefits to participants, not only by enhancing their skills but also by giving them valuable life experiences and cultural understanding. “Collaborative efforts between the government, training institutions, and various stakeholders ensure that apprenticeships in Japan deliver maximum benefits for participants,” said Anwar Sanusi.
